The $150,000 check never “bounced”. The funds were wired to her agent!

Hello Celebrity Chef Fan and thank you for brining this to our attention! We were not able to locate a story confirming the check did not bounce and now we are curious as to what the real story is. Do you have a link to a source our Weird Lawsuits readers can reference?

The Courthouse News Service did cover the story in more detail. They state:

Deen Enterprises says it first received a bounced check and then “bogus” wire instructions from Celebrity Chefs Tour and Promark. It finally received a valid wire transfer for $100,000 on behalf of CCT, but that “was well short of the $250,000 owed by CCT to the plaintiffs,” according to the complaint.

The pleadings filed in the lawsuit have those facts regarding the check not bouncing. Every other reputable news source picked up on that. Maybe serious people should follow the bloggers on the Food Network sites. Those people actually went and read the legal documents. How did you miss it. Plus, in Paula Deen’s own papers that she received the money by wire.

Paula Deen has admitted what was alleged against her! In pleadings filed in court on April 5th by her lawyers in response to the $40 million counter-claim against her by promoter Celebrity Chefs Tour, LLC, Paula Deen has admitted that her agent never signed the contract that would have allowed the money for her appearances to be sent to him as an escrow agent. She has also admitted that she issued the defamatory statements that Celebrity Chefs Tour alleged. Finally, she now admits that she was wired $100,000 from the promoter.
