Something wonderful about America happens to be the judicial system. Even more breathtaking and triumphant are the legislative branches and the inspiring laws it makes. Especially if you’re in California! If you’ve ever had a rainy day, you could move to the west coast, because in CA, sunshine is guaranteed to the masses. Hurricanes and storms are immediately held accountable for breaking this law. The rule has its heart in the right place, but it was dumb to assume that only people would be preventing bounties of sunshine.

In Blythe, you’re not allowed to wear Cowboy boots unless you happen to already posses at least two cows. This dumb California law is good for weeding out imposter’s. In Baldwin Park, no one is permitted to ride their bike in swimming pools. You can see Johnny Noxville having issues with this, especially when his film’s reviews go down the drain because the director isn’t allowed to tape him and his buddies using a 12-gear mountain bike in an Olympic swimming pool.

Stumbling on these two ensures nothing but laughs, strange faces and concern for the sanity of humanity. Did you know that in New York, the penalty for jumping off a building is death? No, wait, there’s one more: in Danville, Pennsylvania, all fire hydrants must be checked one hour before fires… because, you know, we can predict the time a fire starts and check our extinguishing tools beforehand.

Besides the uncomfortable stabbing sensation, you may also be charged with a felony or misdemeanor and a fine of up to $150,000, depending on the cactus or endangered plants value.

Laws from 1929 make the damage, removal, or transportation of native plants illegal without first obtaining a State permit. With that said, make sure you obtain the necessary permits before even looking at that cactus the wrong way or you may find yourself in a poky situation.

What! Weird laws? Yes, Chicago definitely has weird laws too.

In the late 1800′s, building height was restricted to 130 feet. At one time, you were considered a nomad if you were caught with less than one dollar on hand. Or how about this… you could end up in jail if caught diseased or ugly in public. It is still against the law to fly kites downtown or flush garbage in a toilet.

Most of these laws were cleaned up in the 70′s, but some still remain on the books to keep us laughing.

Violators will face a $1000 fine and/or up to six months in jail. Why would someone create such a dumb law you might ask? City workers complain about messy cleanups, people claim they are victims of a shooting after being sprayed, and randomly being sprayed has even started a few brawls.

The weird law was signed in 2004 and is still in effect as of 2010. If you ask us, this dumb law is just silly!

“Dumb Laws, also weird, strange, or unnecessary laws, are laws that are perceived to be useless, no longer applicable …, or humorous. There are relatively few real “dumb laws” on the books, but large amount of hoax or exaggerated dumb laws are circulated on the internet…”

We thought this was interesting and the last part is so true. It is hard to verify these dumb and stupid laws are legit.

Police were watching the area in an effort to reduce drug activity. Rather than staying on task, an officer decided spitting was absolutely vile in comparison to a drug peddling dealer. The good news… your your tax dollars are being put to good use!

In regards to the law itself, there are various accounts as to why it exists. Some say the anti-spitting law was adopted by several towns as a means to prevent the spread of disease such as tuberculosis. Other sources state sidewalks were made of wood planks and the spitting law was enacted to prevent the wood from becoming warped.

Either way, it is hard to believe someone in this century received a ticket for such a ridiculous law!
